Igniting Marginalized Storytellers to Speak Out and Create Unapologetically

Writer & Professional Speaker

Marginalized storytellers are the voices that shape culture and ignite change.

Yet, we live in a society that demands conformity and silence at the expense of truth and liberation. Well, I call bullshit.

The onslaught of systemic oppressions BIPOC, queer, disabled, and neurodivergent creators experience subconsciously shapes us. It shapes our fears, our doubts, and our internal beliefs about what we can say and who we can be. We can’t let that stop us. Our most powerful work comes when we create from truth instead of fear.

That’s why I help marginalized storytellers build emotional, creative, and identity sovereignty by reshaping how they relate to their own power. I share practical frameworks and tools to help them breakthrough their fears and bullshit stories so they can show up, speak out, and create unapologetically.

About Kristin

I’m Kristin Iris Johnson, a fiction writer, speaker, and liberation architect for marginalized storytellers. I’m an NAACP Image Award nominated Film Producer with 20+ film/TV credits, and Creator/Writer of the GLAAD Media Award-nominated supernatural TV series Wicked City. That journey has not been easy. As someone who lives at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities: queer, Black, autistic, and disabled; I understand the challenges of navigating a world and creative industries that silence us and often punish our very existence. To stand in defiance of that is power. So, I’ve spent 10+ years taking what I’ve learned and sharing it with other marginalized creatives; teaching liberatory practices, nervous system regulation, mindset, and writing workshops to ignite others into their full creative power despite our disadvantages.

Through my talks and workshops, I help marginalized storytellers break through their fears, doubts, and subconscious beliefs so they can clear the old stories holding them back and boldly share their voices with the world. I approach liberation as an internal structure of power and permission that can be intentionally built. That internal structure causes an external ripple effect through our stories, our voices, and everyone our work impacts. As marginalized storytellers we are the wild fruit grown from the seeds of our ancestors; paving new ground, igniting change, and inspiring others through the stories we tell.
